Introduction
What Heatwave does for your Shopify store, and how the pieces fit together.
Heatwave shows you how shoppers really use your Shopify store, and what to change so more of them buy. It combines heatmaps, session recordings, a check of what shoppers see before they scroll, automatic detection of 29 behaviour patterns, and AI recommendations that cite your own numbers.
You don’t need to write code. Heatwave runs through an app embed that you switch on in your theme editor.
How it works
- Collect. When a shopper allows analytics in your cookie banner, a small script (under 8 KB) records anonymous clicks, scrolling, what was visible on the first screen, page speed and cart activity. Some visits are also saved as a replay. Anything typed and personal details are hidden before data leaves the shopper’s browser.
- Detect. About 30 minutes after a visit ends, Heatwave checks it for 29 behaviour patterns, such as a failed add to cart, angry repeated clicks or hesitating at the Add to cart button.
- Measure. For every page type and device, Heatwave builds heatmaps, scroll depth, what was seen without scrolling, how each theme section performs, and load times.
- Recommend. Once a page type has enough visits, Heatwave’s AI looks at your pages alongside the numbers and suggests concrete changes, each backed by evidence from your visitors.
